Tulare County water board seats up for grabs, deadline is Aug. 7
The boards of local water agencies meet anywhere from city hall chambers to tiny offices in far-flung corners of the county.
But these boards make important decisions about the movement of surface water and how much that water costs its growers. They also are in charge of maintaining or building new infrastructure to transport that water.
To have a say in those decisions, residents may consider a slew of seats that are up for grabs this election year. The deadline for candidates to file is Aug. 7.
- Alpaugh Irrigation District — 2 seats (one incumbent has filed)
- Alpaugh Irrigation District — 1 short-term seat
- Alta Irrigation District — 2 seats (one incumbent has filed)
- Deer Creek Stormwater District — 2 seats plus one short-term seat (two incumbents have filed)
- Consolidated Irrigation District — 1 seat, shared with Fresno and Kings counties
- Delano-Earlimart Irrigation District — 3 seats
- Ducor Water District — 2 seats
- Exeter Irrigation District — 3 seats
- Hills Valley Irrigation District — 1 seat (one incumbent has filed)
- Ivanhoe Irrigation District — 3 seats
- Lindmore Irrigation District — 3 seats (two incumbents have filed)
- Lindsay-Strathmore Irrigation District — 2 seats (one incumbent has filed)
- Lower Tule River Irrigation District — 3 seats
- Orange Cove Irrigation District — 2 seats, one shared with Fresno County (two incumbents have filed)
- Pixley Irrigation District — 3 seats
- Porterville Irrigation District — 3 seats plus 1 short-term seat
- Saucelito Irrigation District — 2 seats (one incumbent has filed)
- Stone Corral Irrigation District — 2 seats
- Terra Bella Irrigation District — 3 seats (one incumbent has filed)
