CEO and editor Lois Henry has spent 30 years covering the San Joaquin Valley.
She was raised on a ranch east of Fresno and attended Fresno State where she majored in Journalism.
In Bakersfield she covered a variety of beats including the military, social services, the oil industry, city and county government and did a stint in Sacramento at The Californian’s capitol bureau.
Henry spent 10 years as a manager and was the lead editor for the paper’s many award-winning projects.
In 2007, she began a twice weekly, investigative column and was able to focus on one of her passions – water.
Valley residents innately understand the importance of water. Henry has helped develop that understanding by untangling the complicated knots of rights, lawsuits, contracts and deals by which water is moved and consumed.
She plans to continue that mission through SJV Water.
Henry lives with her husband, one dog and two very spoiled cats in Bakersfield.
Lisa McEwen

Lisa grew up in Tulare County.
She has reported on agriculture and other issues for a wide variety of publications, including, Ag Alert, Visalia Times-Delta, the Fresno Bee and the Tulare and Kings counties farm bureau publications.
She is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo’s journalism program and has earned a certificate in Technical Communication from Arizona State University.
Lisa is the proud mother of two adult children. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, dining out and traveling.
Monserrat Solis

Monserrat was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley.
She is a Journalism graduate of California State University, Northridge where she wrote and edited for the campus paper.
Monserrat has covered local government and culture in counties including Riverside and San Benito while working for the Riverside Press-Enterprise and San BenitoLink.
In her free time, she enjoys crocheting and taking her two dogs to the dog park.
Allison Hunter

Allison is a journalist, photographer and visual storyteller covering the Westlands Water District and water issues across the San Joaquin Valley.
She holds an M.A. in Journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, along with an MFA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her fine art photography has been collected by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Albany Institute of History and Art. Her documentary work has taken her to Liberia, the Haiti-DR border and across New York City.
Before joining SJV Water, Allison freelanced for The Haitian Times, Newsday and the Bronx Free Press. She shoots her own visuals for her reporting, including drone and underwater video.
In her free time, she enjoys finger picking on her old guitar and slowly working through a stack of knitting projects. She’s also a regular at vintage stores and farmers markets.
Sonia Lemus

Sonia was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States with her family in 2002.
Sonia holds a Bachelors’ Degree in English from California State University, Bakersfield. While there she worked on The Runner Newspaper, serving as a news reporter and news editor.
She enjoys scrapbooking and banking as well as traveling to her hometown in Mexico whenever possible.
