Tickets on sale for rafting event to benefit Kern River advocacy group
The nonprofit Kern River Conservancy, which hosts multiple river events throughout the year and marshals an army of volunteers to clean up river campgrounds, is holding its annual whitewater fundraiser on August 10.
Tickets for the event are on sale now through August 8.
Cost is $130 per person
Ticket holders will be treated to an eight- to nine-mile ride down the Lower Kern River below Lake Isabella on Class II and III rapids, known as the “Jungle Run.”
A “taco feast” lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Minimum age to join the excursion is 9 years old.

Guides and rafts are provided by Whitewater Voyages and all proceeds will go to the Kern River Conservancy.
The conservancy has been instrumental in drawing attention to the excitement and beauty of the upper Kern River down through the Kern River Canyon. And has been fiercely dedicated to cleaning up behind swarms of campers who descend on the area every summer. Volunteers with the conservancy routinely take thousands of pounds of trash away from every clean up event they hold.
