Welcome to SJV Water’s spec sheet. Our publication offers a variety digital advertising opportunities in our newsletter and website including display ads and sponsorships. Share this page with your graphic designer to achieve the best possible results for your ad.
Please note, advertising with SJV Water must be confirmed before ad content is submitted. Ads will only run once payment has been received. When booking advertising with SJV Water, ensure you are doing so well in advance as most inventory typically sells out three weeks in advance or more.
Best Practices
- Limit the text on your ad image, making sure that no more than 30% of the image has text.

- Use a sans serif typeface when possible for clarity, fine serif typefaces should be avoided.
- Limit the number of logos on your advertisement, with a maximum of one or two.
- Include a single, simple action for customers to take in your ad copy. For example, “Buy you tickets here.”
NEWSLETTER
| SJV Water will run your company or event logo at the top or bottom of the news items in our weekly newsletter, which is sent directly to nearly 5,000 readers every Wednesday. Minimum of one month (4 weeks) run time. Cost is $1,000 per month for top of news items and $700 per month for bottom of news items. SJV Water offers a leaderboard ad position that appears at the top of the home page and story pages for $1,000 a month. (Image Specs: 728X90, 250kb max, RGB). This size is best suited for horizontal, long-narrow ads.
In-Story
We have banner space available in the body of each story which can be purchased for $250 per month, two-month minimum. (Image Specs: 728X90, 250kb max, RGB) This size is best suited for horizontal, long-narrow ads.
Right Rail
| SJV Water can include a banner at the right hand side of our home page letting the public know about your company or upcoming event. Cost for rail banners is $500 per month, with a two-month minimum. Content sponsorship
Sponsored content is defined as payment by a company, organization or individual to support SJV Water’s coverage of a particular topic area, such as the Kern River, invasive golden mussels, drought response, etc.
SJV Water retains complete editorial control of our content. Funding partners do not have input into stories that will be produced, are not aware of specific stories we are working on, do not review them before publication, and do not have special access to reporters.
All sponsored content will be acknowledged in perpetuity at the top and bottom of each article with a blurb that reads, “Coverage of this issue was made possible by support from XYZ ORGANIZATION(S).”
Multiple companies/organizations may sponsor the same topic area and will be acknowledged in the same blurb.
Pricing for content sponsorship starts at $1,000 per organization.
Deadlines & Proofs
Email & Website Advertising
All content must be submitted a minimum of 3 business days prior to publication. If an image file is inconsistent with SJV Water’s ad specs, the ad will be returned to the advertiser for modification. If content is submitted late or incorrectly, the advertiser risks having their ad not run or run as is.
A screenshot proof of your ad(s) will be sent for approval a minimum of one day before publication. If no response is received from the advertiser by the end of the day, the ad will be considered approved and will be published.
