Corrections

SJV Water is committed to correcting any errors fully and in a timely fashion. 

Reporters should notify the editor immediately about any request/demand for a correction or clarification. SJV Water should respond as urgently as possible to correct or clarify information deemed to be inaccurate or potentially misleading.

• When a story contains a significant error, the correction should appear in italics atop the original story, with the preface “For the record:” explaining that the story was corrected and when. We should also immediately notify our media partners.
• The correction must be written in a way that makes clear the error that is being corrected.
• When a story contains a word misspelling or other typo that does not otherwise affect the accuracy of the story, reporters and/or editors may make those fixes. These do not require an italicized correction notice.

Sometimes sources ask to add additional information after a story has posted. The editor should make these calls, based on whether the additional information would have been included had it been known prior to the story being posted.

Additions the day of the original posting need not be specially marked. Additions after the day of the original posting should include a notation that the story was updated and when.
