The Kings River Fisheries Management Program is looking for volunteers to help with its annual trout fry release February 26.

About 8 to 10 people are needed to carry 20-pound buckets full of trout fry to the Kings River between the Army Corps of Engineers bridge to Avocado Lake Park, about 20-30 miles east of Fresno, to stock the river.

The release is scheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 26.

Volunteers should be able to transport 2-3 five-gallon buckets of trout fry in unheated personal vehicles (trucks preferable) and should be able to carry a 20-pound bucket over uneven terrain. Volunteers for this day meet at the incubator facility below Pine Flat Dam.

Interested persons MUST contact Lori Werner to schedule a time. Contact: lwerner@krcd.org or 559-237-5567 ext. 122

The Kings River Fisheries Management Program is a cooperative effort between the Kings River Conservation District, Kings River Water Association, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife. It’s goal is to enhance the Kings River watershed and fishery habitat and maintain its diverse beneficial uses.

The three agencies are assisted by a  Public Advisory Group.
